Burgh School will create a secure, stimulating and healthy environment in which we can bring out the best in everyone and prepare them for life's challenges. Provide a safe and stimulating environment where everyone feels cared for, valued and respected. Provide opportunities for pupils to become confident and responsible by developing and challenging their thinking. Provide quality learning experiences for all pupils through a range of teaching styles, which will enable them to become actively involved in their education. Ensure that children have the necessary skills to enable them to become actively involved in their education. Ensure that children have the necessary skills to enable them to communicate effectively. Promote a team approach to ensure the effective management of the school, where everyone's view are valued. Our approaches to teaching will be flexible and creative, making the most of every learning opportunity. Provide a range of appropriate resources to meet the needs of staff and pupils. Encourage shared responsibility between parents, staff and pupils to raise achievement and ensure good behaviour. The summer term has started and already we have had the science project visiting the school (P2-P6), a careers week and the first orienteering practise for P7. For the P7s this the last term in Burgh School. There are lots of transition activities planned. Preparations for the end of term Swan Song have started. P7 will have a two day visit to the Academy in June. P3 and P5 are working hard on their designer gardens. We wish them well in the competition Gardening Scotland. The P6 class has taken over the healthy tuck-shop and revived it with success. They also have taken over monitor responsibilities. Sportsdays are planned for the 16th (P1-4) and 19th (P1-3)of June. Earlier dates had to be moved because of a visit of circus in the public park. For further information please check the school newsletter on this website. In the spot light Burgh School is actively developing storylines as a teaching tool. The story line stimulates the children learning through providing a meaning full context. It aims to create the opportunity for children to influence what they are learning and how. See Storyline for more information. |
